DoomBlog EX: Thoughts on Netflix's Bird Box [SPOILERS]

Posted by DominusDREX - January 4th, 2019

From the ashes of Tumblr comes....DOOMBLOG EX!!

So, after seeing so many memes of the Netflix film, I've finally jumped on the Bird Box hype train earlier this week and I must admit that....it's actually not bad. There was a decent amount of horror & suspense that left me on the edge of my seat and the story was quite intriguing in that it was like watching a Cthulu Mythos story come to life. It was all very unusual, quite intriguing, and pretty well done!

Some of the actor performances were pretty ok and the plot direction was not bad but it felt like it left a bunch of holes in which we don't exactly know what "they" are, why they are here, and how is it all happening. In the same breath, however, it adds even more to the suspense & horror of the story as it even left me afraid to continue looking at the movie but I kept pushing on to see what would happen next. The ending was almost silly & expected as it didn't resolve much, the monsters are still a problem, and that the MacGuffin Location is actually a school for blind people.

Speaking of the blind, Bird Box definitely sounds like something straight out of the Cthulu Mythos; blind people being the only humans next to animals, birds being a motif, the "creatures" being formless and sound like a flock of demonic birds....Totally.

Still, I recommend watching it; I still don't find it all that bad but I was expecting even more out of the plot itself.
